Made the more moving by being a once a year ritual.

Who or what is being elected?

Beautiful pictures. It's heartening to see people who know they're called and answer that call. God bless and protect them on their path.

The intrinsic evil of abortion seeks to destroy this moment.

Anonymous, it is the formal recognition and expression of the catechumen's (or candidate's) intent to proceed with conversion. They are now the "Elect". As with anyone elected, more is now required.

Cathecumens are "elected" designated by the bishop to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. A larger celebration occurred the First Sunday of Lent, the next day, at our Cathedral.
