Fear of terrorism is probably a big reason for the decrease in crowd sizes. Maybe Pope Francis isn't as charismatic as previous Popes. I don't know about that.

If people desire poorly thought out leftist political pablum, they can find it much closer to home than Rome.

Lacking stats, it is difficult to provide other than conjecture. Sure, fear of terrorism could be playing a part in addition to the current occupant of the Chair not being as charismatic as his predecessors. If not for tree in the background, the picture of Francis could be December 25th, January 16th or, March 20th. No winter mozzetta or, any other visible personal embellishment that states, 'not business as usual'.

That aside, thank goodness we worship our Lord as opposed to some cult of man.

One other thing, I really miss how Benedict always waved with both arms - almost like he was reaching out to embrace us. It always reminded me of entering a favorite relatives house and they stood like that excited to give us a hug.
